CNN Settles With Covington Catholic Student Nick Sandmann, Still Suing NBC, Washington Post

Covington Catholic student Nicholas Sandmann was metaphorically tarred and feathered by mainstream media outlets and talking heads, and now at least one of those outlets is paying for their rush to judgement.

CNN has reportedly agreed to settle the $250 million lawsuit filed by Sandmann’s attorneys, although the amount has not been made public (and likely never will). The attorneys cited “emotional distress, damage to reputation and distress to his family” as a few reasons for the lawsuit.

CNN is just one of multiple outlets that are being sued by the Sandmanns. They still have ongoing lawsuits against the Washington Post and NBC Universal, seeking roughly the same amount they wanted from CNN.

The Daily Caller sums up the Covington event:

The teenager became the focus of a national media firestorm after a number of news outlets took out-of-context video to make it look like he was mocking a Native American man, Nathan Phillips, at the March for Life in January 2019.

In fact, it was the Covington students who were being verbally attacked by nearby protesters associated with the Black Hebrew Israelite group, and Sandmann stood quietly while Phillips beat a drum in his face.

This “firestorm” included grown adults claiming they wanted to hurt this kid for standing still. Bill Maher, who I actually enjoy watching in small doses, called the kid a “prick”. Kathy Griffin called for the kids to be doxxed, saying that she wanted names.

The media got it wrong. That’s been known for quite some time, but now we are seeing what happens when the subject of “fake news” is able to fight back.

The only reason people with blue checkmarks on twitter thought it was okay to go after these kids is because they are conservatives. If they were waving rainbow flags, and cross-dressing, they would’ve been protected by the media. Instead, the fact that they were in D.C. for a pro-life event was used against them.

Sandmann’s attorneys need to get every dime they can from the dishonest media.
