Social media causes people to do strange things. Sometimes, people use it to get revenge against someone by posting something salacious. In this instance, Paul Krugman decided to incriminate himself.
“Well, I’m on the phone with my computer security service, and as I understand it someone compromised my IP address and is using it to download child pornography,” Krugman wrote in a tweet he has since deleted (but the internet doesn’t forget). “I might just be a random target. But this could be an attempt to Qanon me. It’s an ugly world out there.”

Sure, Paul. Surely he wasn’t the only one caught up in this, right? Perhaps we should wait for an investigation to take place so we can find out how many people this happened to (I’m willing to bet it’s not a lot… if anyone else at all).

Krugman later tweeted that “The Times is on the case” before following that up by saying the whole thing might have been a scam…

Krugman is a highly-regarded economist who boldly stated the Internet would have the same impact on the economy as the fax machine…. He also said the economy would collapse if Trump were to become president… Oddly enough, neither of those things happened.
His foresight failed him once again, as he was stupid enough to share with the entire world that child porn had been found on his IP address… And then, after deleting that tweet, he said the whole thing might just be a scam…
All he did by sharing that information was lead people to believe there actually IS something to hide. Why try to get ahead of something so heinous without at least looking into it? Why not verify the phone call was from your internet provider before sharing with the world what they might have found?
Krugman isn’t a dumb guy. He might say stupid things, but he’s not stupid enough to simply take a phone call that says “you have child porn on your computer”, and turn around and tweet about it without looking into it for himself.
Plus, it’s weird he had the whole Qanon thing ready to go… The guy was already prepared to use a conspiracy to blame the whole thing on… But then he deleted the tweet and said it was a hoax… Something stinks…
