The one constant about the left is that, given time, they will eventually end up eating their own.
That is the case for Democratic nominee Elizabeth Warren, who finds herself the target of twitter users as #RefundWarren was allowed to trend on the social media platform.
Yesterday it was reported by CNN that back in 2018 Sanders had told Warren that a woman could never win a presidential race. Sanders denied such allegations, stating that “it is ludicrous to believe that at the same meeting where Elizabeth Warren told me she was going to run for president, I would tell her that a woman couldn’t win.”
“It’s sad that, three weeks before the Iowa caucus and a year after that private conversation, staff who weren’t in the room are lying about what happened,” he went on to say. “What I did say that night was that Donald Trump is a sexist, a racist and a liar who would weaponize whatever he could. Do I believe a woman can win in 2020? Of course! After all, Hillary Clinton beat Donald Trump by 3 million votes in 2016.”
In a statement, Warren defended the original CNN story, claiming that Bernie Sanders did in fact make those remarks.
“Bernie and I met for more than two hours in December 2018 to discuss the 2020 election, our past work together, and our shared goals: beating Donald Trump, taking back our government from the wealthy and well-connected, and building an economy that works for everyone,” Warren said.
“Among the topics that came up was what would happen if Democrats nominated a female candidate. I thought a woman could win; he disagreed.”
The next day, The Washington Post ran a piece that countered Warren’s narrative, their sources claiming Bernie Sanders never said a woman couldn’t win a presidential race, but rather Donald Trump would use nefarious tactics.

Upon the story’s publication, folks voiced their displeasure with the woman many thought might actually end up being the Democratic nominee (she won’t).

Expect the issue to be discussed during tonight’s Democratic debate. You should also expect the two to “put it aside”, and use it as some weird unity moment…
