A 45-year old convicted sex-offender tried to pull a fast one in court by claiming to identify as an 8-year old girl, but apparently the judge wasn’t buying it.
A Grand Rapids judge sentenced Joseph Gobrick to a minimum of 10 years after child porn was found on his home computer.
According to WZZM, the local ABC affiliate, eight child victims were identified in the pornography recovered from Gobrick’s computer.
Some of the images depicted children between the ages of infant and five years old being sexually assaulted, court records show.
“I’ve always been an 8-year-old girl,” Gobrick said at sentencing. “And even my drawings and fantasies, I am always an 8-year-old girl.”
Dozens of pornographic images featuring eight victims ranging from infancy to 5 years old were reportedly found on Gobrick’s hard drive. Gobrick claimed the images, which in some cases depicted sexual assault, were computer-animated.
Kent County Assistant Prosecutor Daniel Helmer called Gobrick “a danger to the public.”
“Even during the trial, the defendant continued to draw, talking about raping babies in the Kent County Jail and making other statements about how this is his constitutional right to continue to do so,” Helmer said.
Kent County Circuit Court Judge Paul Denenfeld was the one who sentenced Gobrick. He stated that, based on the evidence presented, it’s clear Gobrick shows no remorse for his actions.
“Based on everything he’s said and done, including bragging about what he was drawing in his cell, he obviously doesn’t think child sexually abusive material is wrong,” Denenfeld said.
Denenfeld found him guilty on three counts of child sexually abusive commercial activity and using a computer to commit a crime.
Gobrick, who represented himself after firing his lawyer, compared his sentence to Nazi concentration camps.
“Under the law, Auschwitz was legal,” Gobrick said. “What you’re doing here is wrong, just as Auschwitz was.”
WZZM reports that Gobrick was arrested in 2018 after a missing girl was found in his home.
During that investigation, the child pornography was found on his computer. Gobrick, who has a 2001 sexual abuse conviction out of New York, contends he is not sexually attracted to children.
People like this make me wish we still had public executions. These despicable excuses for human beings do not belong on this planet. Seeing as shooting them into space isn’t cost effective, bullets would accomplish the same goal.
