Once again the Democrats have it in for socialist Bernie Sanders, and that was obvious during Tuesday’s Democratic debate.
Prior to the debate, rumors had surfaced that the Senator from Vermont told Elizabeth Warren that a “woman could win a race for president” back in 2018. When the issue came up during the debate, Sanders denied having ever said such a thing.
“It is ludicrous to believe that at the same meeting where Elizabeth Warren told me she was going to run for president, I would tell her that a woman couldn’t win,” Sanders said prior to the debate. “It’s sad that, three weeks before the Iowa caucus and a year after that private conversation, staff who weren’t in the room are lying about what happened.”
During the debate, Sanders said that “Hillary Clinton beat Donald Trump by 3 million votes in 2016,” in defense that he would never claim a woman couldn’t win.
Then, CNN did what CNN does: they turned on Bernie.
Moderators asked Warren an extremely framed question, inferring that Bernie Sanders did, in fact, say a woman couldn’t win a presidential race.
“Senator Warren, what did you think when Senator Sanders told you a woman couldn’t win an election?”
The audience laughed. The candidates smirked. Everyone knew the question was loaded to make it seem like Sanders had just lied, but “this is CNN”.
Seriously, look at these two. They can’t contain their laughter.

Of course, Warren took the chance to go after Bernie, going off into a rant about how we need to attack the issue of a woman being elected “head on” by looking “at their record”.
Warren then attempted to “Burn” Bernie by stating that only the person on stage that had beaten a Republican in a race in 30 years was her, but Bernie was quick to call out her math.
“I defeated a Republican,” Sanders said. “In 1990.”
When you take into consideration that elections typically take place in November, and it’s only January, it hasn’t been a full 30 years since Bernie won his election. Warren was wrong by a couple months.
“That’s how I won,” Sanders said as the crowd laughed. “I beat a Republican Congressman.”
Later in the debate the candidates were recorded exchanging pleasantries, but a tense moment between Sanders and Warren had the internet buzzing.
After audio recordings of the incident were released, it’s clear that Warren felt the sting of Bernie’s jab.
“I think you called me a liar on national TV,” Warren tells Sanders after definitely lying on national TV.
“Let’s not do this right now,” Sanders says, attempting to remain civil. “You want to have that discussion, we’ll have that discussion.”
Sanders then points to the fact that Warren was the one accusing him of lying. “You called me a liar,” he says before walking away.
Tom Steyer offers some comic relief, saying that he’s “not trying to get in the way,” he “just wanted to say ‘hi’.” What a nice guy.
CNN claims that Warren had attempted to “de-escalate” tensions during the debate, but going into a long tirade about women being able to win an election is hardly doing anything to dispel the false allegations against Mr. Sanders. Even if they are true, again, going into a rant about women being able to be elected is the furthest thing from “de-escalating” the situation.
Bernie Sanders may be a socialist, but of all people, the man that lost to Hillary Clinton in the last primary knows that a woman could win the race for president.
The most logical explanation for this entire fiasco is that some focus group found that the only way Elizabeth Warren could win the nomination would be to somehow paint Bernie Sanders (the person she agrees with the most ideologically) as a sexist, and win over his voters.
Why else would this story of Bernie saying “a woman can’t win” have sat under the rug since the pair’s meeting in 2018?
Hit dogs holler, and Bernie wasn’t the one running up to Warren to have a confrontation…
