Texas Governor Greg Abbott was pleased to announce via twitter that his state had reported zero Covid related deaths, the first time since tracking the pandemic in March, 2020. The numbers on Sunday were the lowest in the state in 13 months, and with nearly half the state receiving the vaccine, those numbers should continue to fall.

While it’s worth noting that many counties don’t report their numbers over the weekend, the key takeaway here is that the pandemic seems to be winding down in the Lone Star State. With the CDC releasing new guidelines on masks, Texans are looking forward to having a mask-free summer.
