Scandal Rocks CNN, Contributor Praises Hitler

The network is trying to distance itself from the long time contributor.

A CNN contributor has been fired after tweeting (and subsequently deleting) that “The world today needs a Hitler,” amidst the conflict between Israel and Palestine.

Adeel Raja, who has written extensively for CNN over the years, seemed to double down after being fired, tweeting out “Glad a single tweet contributed to the #Palestine cause and brought it to the limelight with me loosing my job and the West’s claim of Freedom of expression and rights.”

According to The Hill, this wasn’t the first time Raja had shown support for the Nazi leader responsible for the deaths of millions during the middle of the 20th century. A 2014 tweet by Raja reads “The only reason I am supporting Germany in the finals is—Hitler was German and he did good with those Jews!”

CNN has been scrambling in an effort to distance itself from the longtime contributor, who had been writing for CNN since at least 2015, as he has articles still on the website. “Adeel Raja has never been a CNN employee. As a freelancer, his reporting contributed to some news gathering efforts from Islamabad,” wrote CNN spokesman Matt Dornic in an email to the Washington Examiner. “However, in light of these abhorrent statements, he will not be working with CNN again in any capacity.”
