Ilhan Omar Caught Laughing During Speech On American Lives Lost Overseas

Would it kill Representative Ilhan Omar to at least pretend to care about America, if only for a few minutes?

During a press conference held by House Democrats,  Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee spent time talking about U.S. casualties in Iraq, but a particular member of her party couldn’t keep it together for a few minutes without causing some type of distraction.

That member is Rep. Omar, who is seen on video laughing while Rep. Jackson discusses American troops who were killed and wounded overseas.

“We left 4,000 dead,” Jackson says as Omar is caught giggling with fellow “squad” member Rashida Tlaib. “Over 60,000 came back injured,” Jackson continued as Omar proceeded to joke around in the background.

When it came time for Rep. Omar to speak, her mood became somber as she tried to explain just how devastated she is. “I feel ill, a little bit,” she began. “Every time I hear conversations around war I find myself stricken with PTSD.”

First of all, it’s great Ilhan Omar doesn’t want to go to war with Iran. I actually agree with her, but even the sun shines on a dog’s ass now and then. What irks people is how she goes from bouncing around all giddy, and then flips a switch to appear stricken with grief.

Maybe that’s a symptom of her PTSD. I genuinely don’t know how PTSD works so I’m not going to comment one way or the other about it, but that would really be the only explanation as to why she’d be joking around while standing directly behind the podium, in camera view, while Americans losing their lives is being discussed.

There is a part of me that might understand Omar’s actions, however her previous comments lead me to believe she’s not the type to be uncomfortable while genuinely grieving. The fact that she referred to the 9/11 terror attacks as “some people who did something” makes me think she doesn’t really care that much about lives lost overseas.

This is coming from a guy who laughs during funerals because I don’t know how to handle my emotions. I’m doing my best to give Omar the benefit of the doubt that she’s just awkward, but again… “some people did something” leads me, and many others, to think otherwise…
